RMP Close Protection Course – Why Bother?

Why bother doing that course when you can just buy a certificate on Ebay.   Who would want one of these? It beggars belief that they would sell, but sell they are  and  like hot cakes. Be aware  that the numpty you are working alongside might not have done a course at all.  He may have just spent £2.99 on Ebay.

These are the buyers over the last couple of days, recognise any names?  Lets hope its just girlfriends that these people want to impress and not potential employers!  Walter Mitty is alive and well;  he’s an RMP  trained Close protection Officer and he shops on Ebay     lol

  1. I only came to this site as the book was recommended to me so before continuing I would like to say that I am superbly impressed with the Bodyguards Bible and its content.

To N McCullough, I would like to say if you want to progress you might want to reconsider rephrasing some of your comments. I am willing to bet that my military career was longer and more impressive than yours, yet I learn something new every day.

Yes! like many I detest wasting money, but I consider myself to be an investable commodity and like my clients have no compunctions in investing, meaning this is how you should reconsider parting with money.

A little due diligence will reveal much in the way of where to go for your “Basic Training” so that you can apply for a license to through SIA in order to operate in the UK.

If you believe that you know it all, the drill I mean then so be it, but if I ever come across your name or any of the others that think they know it all and I do not see CPD as part of their career progress, then these CVs will not get past file 13 for selection.

To the chap that spotted this…Well done!

  2. How can the sia be trusted, recently a guy i know of was given a cp licence even though he was locked up for violence including breaking both arms of his wife’s.He is an extremley violent person and is drugged up most of the time. It beggars belief whats going on !!!! I’m dismayed as the sia was set up to stop these people from entering this business.

  3. To N Mccullough
Some of us took years to get into the role and dont just buy a certificate if they buy these then the common sense does not exist in their brain smaal as it must be.
You need to learn the right things to do this job the book is the best printed by a proffessional for proffessional peaople or those getting into the industry and wanting to learn correctly rather than risk lives by claiming to be trained.
Even a car is a deadly weapon when you do not know how to drive.
do not make comments about a walter mitty certificate maker who makes a living committing fraud printing lies .

  4. give the dude on e bay trying to make a buck a damn break!

  5. Especially if your ex military & may be dont have a spare 2k lying around & just want to make a livin & besides how do you know people are using these to show to the SIA? eh? to be honest i hope they are & getting away with it!! because the SIA are am shower of money grabbing muppets anyway.

  6. You dont understand why anyone would buy a cert like this!!!???
are you mental!!? the sia or for short: scamming money grabin idiots!! some guys know the drills & may be dont want to pay some guy £2000 for learning common sense! Wake up!!

  7. Wouldn’t surprise me either :-) They employed Illegal immigrants to guard their own premises.

  8. what worries me is would the incompetent sia staff issue badges on the strength of these certificates.I wouldn’t be too surprised if they did.

  9. Thanks for the reply, I needed to know as a filtering process. Obviously I would take up references its just to save me time in the initial stages of interviewing.

  10. I think the certificates look genuine enough. However a certificates of training should never be used as proof of training. As an employer you should ask to see course reports and take up references from the training company. I certainly would not rely on an SIA licence as evidence of training or identity for that matter!

  11. I run my own security company and have never seen one of these. How does it compare to the real thing, is it obvious or will it fool me. If someone can tell me the difference so that I dont employ a walt, I would appreciate it.

  12. I have worked next to guys that have done this course and they are very protective of it. So if your thinking of buying a certificate and trying to get work of the back of it, THINK AGAIN, you will be found out. There is always someone who knows someone at longmore, it only takes a phone call.

  13. We have many walts out here in Iraq, one has just been caught out saying he was para this and para that, and it turns out he was a chef, (bless him)ex police are as bad, The old SO19 must have been at Brigade strengh from the amount of guys who say they were in it. Keep walts were they belong flickinn burgers in a well known chain

  14. great post, there are some real plonkers out there and the ones buying these certificates must be plonkers with a capital P

  15. I just cannot understand why people would buy certificates like this, they must be really sad

  16. We have guys like him in here in the States. You can be anyone you want, you just have to pay. Its only funny until the guy next to you, watching your back, gets found wanting at the wrong time. I am surprised that this is allowed. the implications could be serious I will be report this to Ebay, maybe some of you guys should too.

  17. This pratt has been selling stuff like this for quite a while. It seems that there are quite a few Walter Mitty’s out there because, as you say, he is selling lots of them. No bone-fide employer and certainly not the SIA will rely on certificates alone, so there is no danger, its just a worry that so many of these idiots are out there in their Ninja gear.
